11 June 2026
Barnabas, in the New Testament, was given that name because he was such an encouragement to others. You are invited to join us in a walk of encouragement and prayer.
St Barnabas Church, Hengoed (1850-1979), was built jointly between St Mary’s Selattyn and St John the Baptist Whittington. It was the centre of fellowship in Hengoed for over 125 years and its congregation was the driving force in founding the ministry in Gobowen in a mission hall, and later building All Saints’ Gobowen in 1928. In the 1970s, the building became unsafe and was closed before being dismantled. The peaceful churchyard remains between the parishes of St Mary’s and All Saints’.
June 11th is St Barnabas Day and you are invited to join us for the 4 mile walk from St Mary’s Selattyn via St Barnabas Hengoed, to All Saints’ Gobowen for refreshments. You are welcome to join us for part of the walk or at any of the stops along the route.
